Olympic Park Oval

Last updated: 4 September 2026

Olympic Park Oval is a shared community space at Melbourne Park.

Once the site of the historic Olympic Park Stadium and current home of Collingwood Football Club, Olympic Park Oval is a popular location for fitness enthusiasts, with a running track encircling the pitch.

The oval is open to the public outside of scheduled training times.

ACCESS AND GUIDELINES

Temporary closure for Olympic Park Oval upgrade

Melbourne Park is investing approximately $1 million to upgrade the Olympic Park Oval playing surface and running track.

The project will improve the playing surface, renew the synthetic running track, and ensure the oval continues to support both professional football training and community use.

Works will include:

  • Renewing the oval playing surface
  • Installing a premium, all-weather running-track surface with new line markings
  • Installing new water bubblers for runners

To complete the works safely and allow the new turf to become established, the oval and running track will be closed and fenced from 14 September.

The track is expected to reopen in late December, subject to weather and construction conditions. Updates will be published on this page as the project progresses.

Following completion of the works, current access conditions will continue to apply, with the running track unavailable to the public during Collingwood Football Club training sessions.

For further information, please email [email protected] or call (03) 9286 1600.

Track access and guidelines

Olympic Park Oval is a shared space; however, the running track is closed to the public during all Collingwood Football Club training sessions.

Four Collingwood Football Club teams train weekly (AFL, AFLW, VFL, and VFLW); their training times are updated regularly here. Signs will be placed around the running track to advise the public that a training session is in progress.

For safety purposes, no one is permitted within the fence line during training sessions without authorisation from the Collingwood Football Club.

For groups of over 10 people using the track at one time, please book here. For groups using the track following the completion of VFL and VFLW trainings (from approximately 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm on Mondays to Thursdays), please congregate here to safely enter the track.

Collingwood Football Club will leave the lights on the track until 9:00 pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 6:00 am on Tuesdays.

For Melbourne Park security, please call 9286 1255.
