Melbourne Park AO26 – Conditions of Entry

Patrons must comply with all laws, regulations, directions and rules issued by government or any government authority or by Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust (“MOPT”) while in the Australian Open event area (the “Event Area”) or on surrounding Melbourne Park property (the “MOPT precinct”).
For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all patrons, staff and event participants, and/or pursuant to the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic), entry to the Event Area is subject to the following Conditions of Entry. By entering the Event Area, each person acknowledges and agrees to be bound by these Conditions of Entry and that they have had sufficient opportunity to read and understand these Conditions of Entry. Any patron who breaches any of the Conditions of Entry may be evicted from the Event Area or event (and, where relevant, the MOPT precinct). These Conditions of Entry should be read in conjunction with the Australian Open 2026 Ticket Conditions of Sale and Entry (AO Conditions), available at tennis.com.au.
MOPT reserves the right to update, modify or change these Conditions of Entry from time to time. Any changes will be posted and available at melbournepark.com.au and at entry points to the Event Area.
Please note that these conditions apply only to the Australian Open 2026.

Assistance Dogs
We are committed to providing an accessible and enjoyable experience for all patrons. Patrons with disabilities are welcome to bring assistance dogs into the Event Area.
Documentation:
Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), a person with disability may be asked to produce evidence that an animal is an assistance animal. Patrons may need to provide evidence that their dog meets the definition of an assistance dog under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). Specifically, this requires that the dog has been trained to perform tasks or functions that help to alleviate the effects of the patron’s disability. Assistance dogs must have completed obedience training as evidenced by an obedience certificate and a declaration by the relevant dog trainer.
Access and Seating:
Assistance dogs are permitted in all areas of the Event Area where patrons are allowed. For safety and comfort, we offer designated seating areas for patrons with disabilities. Please contact our Guest Services team to make arrangements if you need assistance with seating.
Behaviour and Control:
Assistance dogs must be under control at all times. If an assistance dog displays aggressive behaviour or is not under control, we may ask you to remove the dog from the Event Area.
Accommodations:
If you require additional accommodations for your assistance dog (e.g., relief areas), please notify our Guest Services team.
Alcohol
- Alcoholic beverages must not be taken into or from the Event Area;
- Intoxicated persons will be refused entry/ evicted from the Event Area;
- It is an offence for minors to purchase or consume alcohol, or for a person to supply alcohol to a minor; and
- Breaches of these laws may result in eviction from the Event Area and the persons being reported to the Police (penalties apply under the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (Vic)).
Smoking and Vaping
Smoking, including e-cigarettes and/or vaping, is not permitted inside arenas within the Event Area or within 10 metres of the external doors and any food & beverage outlets or activations.
Tickets
Tickets, either mobile or hard-copy, must be retained at all times.
Any tickets that are damaged, defaced or have been purchased from an unauthorised ticketing agent will not permit the holder to be admitted to the Event Area.
Patrons must only occupy the seats specified on their ticket (if relevant).
Patrons who have purchased a concessional ticket for an event must be able to provide valid proof of concession (i.e. proof of age identification or concession card) upon entry into the Event Area or when requested.
Tickets to the event must not be used in relation to any unauthorised promotion or competition.
Further, patrons must not engage in the following in the Event Area and/or surrounding MOPT precinct without the prior written consent of MOPT:
- distribute commercial, political, religious, advertising or promotional material;
- sell or distribute any goods or services or any other matter or thing;
- wear or otherwise display commercial, political, religious or offensive signage or logos;
- collect money or orders from other person in the Event Area or the MOPT precinct for goods or services;
- engage in ambush marketing;
- conduct public surveys or opinion polls, solicit money, donations or subscriptions from members of the public;
- post, stick or place or attempt to post, stick or place any poster, placard, bill, banner, print, paper, sticker or any advertising material on any building structure, fence, tree or cordon; or
- collect bottles, cans or containers, whether for the Container Deposit Scheme or otherwise.
Restrictions on Entry
MOPT management reserves the right to:
- Refuse entry to any person;
- Inspect any bags, clothing or other items at entry point or within the Event Area at any time; and
- Conduct security screening (which may include the use of metal detection devices) at entry points within the Event Area at any time.
A person must not attempt to conceal their identity, either at the point of entry or while inside the Event Area. Persons concealing their identity with a scarf, balaclava, mask or other item, unless for a religious, medical or other justifiable reason, may be refused entry and / or ejected from the Event Area or event.
Ejection from Event Area
A person may be liable for prosecution or a fine or may be ejected from the Event Area where that person:
- Uses foul or abusive language or makes racial, offensive or threatening remarks or gestures (including in relation to a person’s gender, religion, culture, sexual orientation and/or disability);
- Is deemed by MOPT management to be displaying offensive, disorderly or unlawful behaviour;
- Enters the Event Area or other restricted internal area without proper authorisation;
- Engages in a criminal activity;
- Poses an unacceptable risk to the safety, security or integrity of the Site, Event Area or event;
- Is subject to a ban issued by MOPT management or Tennis Australia and attempts to enter the Event Area in breach of that ban; or
- Fails to comply with these conditions of entry, the AO Conditions, or a lawful request from MOPT staff, an Authorised Officer or Victoria Police.
No ticket refund will be paid to any person who is ejected from the Event Area. It is an offence for a person to re-enter the Event Area for a period of 24 hours after being ejected from the Event Area.
Court Area
- Patrons must not enter the court area within an arena in the Event Area at any time without prior consent from MOPT management or Tennis Australia.
- Patrons acknowledge that if they enter the court area without such consent, they may be prosecuted, fined or ejected from the Event Area.
Other Conditions
- Persons under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times within the Event Area.
- By entering the Event Area, patrons agree for their image, likeness or voice to be used as part of any recording of the event. Patrons consent to the commercial exploitation, throughout the world, of their images by MOPT and its commercial partners without compensation.
- Patrons are advised that the Event Area and MOPT precinct is fitted with electronic surveillance (including facial recognition technology) and patrons may be filmed in any area of the Event Area and/or MOPT precinct. Please see the “Collection Notice” section for further information.
- Some areas of the Event Area may be exposed to direct sunlight and heat. Patrons are responsible for their own sun protection and hydration.
- Attending events at large venues and crowded places involves risk, including exposure to illnesses, collisions (with objects or other persons), falling or tripping, adverse weather, or acts committed by other patrons.
- Patrons enter the Event Area at their own risk. MOPT has no liability whatsoever for any damaged, lost or stolen property nor for any other loss, damage or injury suffered by any patron, whether in contract, tort or statutory liability, to the full extent permitted by law.
- An event may be cancelled, delayed or stopped due to dangerous situations, adverse weather or for any other cause beyond MOPT’s control. A person’s right to claim for a replacement ticket or refund in such circumstances will be determined by the conditions of sale of tickets by Tennis Australia and applicable laws.
- In addition to the matters set out above, MOPT may exercise any rights granted under the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic) or other legislation or regulations pertaining to the Event Area.
Government Requirements and Public Health
MOPT management adheres to all government public health and safety measures that apply to the Event Area and the MOPT precinct, which may change from time to time.
You agree to comply with all Government directions, orders and regulations relevant to attending live events, which may be in place at the time of the event. This includes not attending the event if, at that time, you are subject to a requirement imposed by law to self-isolate or otherwise not attend live events.
When attending an event at the Event Area, you agree to assume all risks associated with the transmission of viral illnesses, including COVID-19.
Privacy Collection Notice
1. PRIVACY COLLECTION NOTICE
For the purpose of this Privacy Collection Notice, references to “Venue Hirer” is a reference to Tennis Australia for the purpose of the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic).
1.1 Filming, surveillance and use of facial recognition technology for safety & security purposes
To enhance the safety for all MOPT precinct and Event Area users, security cameras and monitoring and surveillance systems (incorporating facial recognition technology, as further described below) operate at the MOPT precinct and Event Area to assist in enhancing security and patron safety, including (without limitation) for the purposes of identifying and denying entry to, or ejecting, known Disruptive Persons or persons who pose a threat to the safety, security or integrity of the event. Ticket holders acknowledge that they may be filmed and by entering into the MOPT precinct or Event Area they consent to the recording and capture of their image, likeness and/or voice by any means (including but not limited to audio and visual recordings).
Footage collected by MOPT will include the personal information (and may include sensitive information and health information) of individuals who enter any MOPT precinct or the Event Area in accordance with the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic) and the Conditions of Entry.
Where facial recognition technology is in use, an image of each individual’s face will be captured upon entering the Event Area. The facial recognition system used by MOPT generates biometric information from that image by extracting that person’s facial features into a biometric template, which will be compared against a database of images of persons who are banned from the Australian Open. This database includes personal information provided to MOPT from third parties as detailed above.
If the technology identifies a match between an individual’s biometric template generated from the facial recognition system and a banned person:
- MOPT, an Authorised Officer and/or Victoria Police (or other law enforcement bodies or agencies) may locate and approach that individual and request that the individual identifies themself; and
- that individual may be removed from or denied entry to the Event Area or MOPT precinct if they are identified as having been banned from the Australian Open.
All biometric information, including any biometric template that results in a match, is immediately discarded.
By entering the MOPT precinct or Event Area, ticket holders consent to the collection of their personal information (which may include biometric information and biometric templates), collected or generated as part of MOPT operating its facial recognition technology system for security monitoring and surveillance purposes, as necessary for one of MOPT’s functions or activities, in accordance with the purposes set out in this Privacy Collection Notice and MOPT’s Privacy Policy (which may be accessed as set out below).
Personal information (as defined in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and health information (as defined in the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), together the Privacy Laws) will at all times be handled by MOPT in accordance with the Privacy Laws and MOPT’s Privacy Policy.
1.2 Purpose of collection
Personal information is collected for the purposes of ensuring the security and safety of individuals at the MOPT precinct or the Event Area. This information may be used to, without limitation:
- prosecute or support the implementation of a ban on any person who breaches the Conditions of Entry or are subject to a Venue Hirer (or, where relevant, its associated Sporting Administrator) ban; or
- deny entry to or eject any person who, in the reasonable opinion of Venue Management, poses a threat to the safety, security or integrity of the MOPT precinct, Event Area or event;
- exclude such persons from attending the relevant MOPT precinct or Event Area for future events; or
- for other law enforcement purposes.
1.3 Sharing information
The information that is collected may be disclosed to and shared between certain organisations, including but not limited to: Venue Management, Venue Hirer (and, where relevant, its associated Sporting Administrator), Venue Security Providers, Authorised Officers and Victoria Police (or other law enforcement bodies and agencies), for the above stated purposes, and all persons who attempt to enter the Event Area consent to such disclosure. Further details of the organisations to whom information may be disclosed are set out in the MOPT Privacy Policy.
A copy of the MOPT Privacy Policy is available upon request or can be viewed at melbournepark.com.au/privacy. Individuals who have had their personal information collected and would like to make a complaint about MOPT’s handling of their personal information, or to access or correct the personal information, can make these requests by emailing [email protected].
2. BREACH OF CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
If a person breaches the Conditions of Entry, engages in criminal activity, or fails to comply with the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic), they may (without compensation or refund):
- be denied access to, or evicted from the MOPT precinct, Event Area or event;
- have their ticket (and any future tickets) cancelled (without refund), and be required to deliver up any ticket in their possession;
- be excluded from attending future events hosted at the Event Area by a Court, MOPT, or Event Area Hirer (and, where relevant, its associated Sporting Administrator); or
- be asked for their personal information, such as (but not limited to): name, address and date of birth by an Authorised Officer (as authorised under the Major Events Act 2009 (Vic)) or Victoria Police, which the person acknowledges may be used or disclosed in accordance with this Privacy Collection Notice and the MOPT Privacy Policy,
in addition to all other legal rights and remedies available to MOPT.
3. PRIVACY CONSENT
By purchasing a ticket to an event or otherwise entering the MOPT precinct or Event Area, ticket holders and all other individuals entering the MOPT precinct and Event Area consent to:
- being photographed, filmed and recorded through the use of electronic surveillance technology (including via closed circuit television cameras that incorporate the use of facial recognition technology) whilst entering and attending the Event Area and MOPT precinct;
- their name, address, date of birth and image being collected and used by MOPT, Victoria Police and the responsible entities for events held at the MOPT precinct or Event Area or other locations as the case may be;
- disclosure of such information to MOPT, Venue Hirer (and/or, where relevant, its associated Sporting Administrator), Security Provider and Victoria Police (or other law enforcement bodies and agencies) if they are denied entry or evicted from, or arrested within or in proximity to, the Event Area and/or MOPT precinct (as relevant);
- such information being uploaded to, processed by and stored in MOPT’s security monitoring and surveillance systems for the purposes set out in this Privacy Collection Notice.
If you do not give consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as contemplated by this Privacy Collection Notice, you will not be able to complete your ticket purchase or access the MOPT precinct or Event Area. In particular, surveillance and facial recognition technology in the Event Area and/or MOPT precinct cannot be turned off, so if you do not wish for your image to be subject to surveillance and/or facial recognition technology, you should not enter the Event Area or MOPT precinct.
MOPT management reserves the right to refuse entry to, or eject, any person who:
- breaches the Conditions of Entry;
- engages in a criminal activity;
- is subject to a Venue Hirer or Sporting Administrator (where relevant) ban; or
- poses an unacceptable risk to the safety, security or integrity of the MOPT precinct, the Event Area or event.
This Privacy Collection Notice should be read in conjunction with the Conditions of Entry, the AO Conditions, ticket conditions (appearing on each ticket), MOPT’s Privacy Policy and the event’s Refund Policy.
MOPT reserves the right to amend this Privacy Collection Notice from time to time and copies of the latest version are available at melbournepark.com.au and prominently displayed at entry points to the Event Area.
