For music lovers

From heavy metal to country to spectacular young talent, there’s something for every music taste at Melbourne Park.

Prepare to journey “To Hell and Back” on Friday 5 September when Sabaton unleash their unforgettable headline extravaganza at Margaret Court Arena. For more than 25 years, the Swedish power metal band has built a formidable reputation, headlining major festivals, climbing the charts, and selling out arenas worldwide. Now, they return to Melbourne with special guests and fellow Swedes, Amaranthe.

Next, a familiar face returns to Rod Laver Arena when Paul Kelly brings his biggest shows yet on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September. Backed by his long-time band and performing brand-new material alongside the iconic songs that have made him one of Australia’s most revered songwriters, Paul Kelly live is not to be missed.

Continuing the rock theme at Margaret Court Arena, Mayday Parade will commemorate two decades as a band with their upcoming Three Cheers For 20 Years tour on Friday 12 September. The Tallahassee pop-punk quintet is renowned for their electrifying live shows and will be joined by special guests, Jack’s Mannequin and The Home Team.

Shifting gear at John Cain Arena, the annual Victorian State Schools Spectacular is back on Saturday 13 September for two dazzling performances, showcasing the extraordinary talent of students from government schools across Victoria. A staple on the John Cain Arena calendar for many a year, this year’s event soars to new heights with On Air, a production where dreams take flight, friendships shine, and every young voice stands proud on stage.

Closing out the month, legendary country artist LeAnn Rimes brings her powerhouse live show to Margaret Court Arena on Tuesday 16 September. LeAnn will perform favourites from her multi-genre catalogue, along with a few surprises for the Melbourne audience.

Basketball is back at Melbourne Park this September!

Both Melbourne United and South East Melbourne Phoenix return to John Cain Arena to kick off their NBL26 seasons, with a flurry of early-season home games, including a head-to-head clash in the showpiece Throwdown on Thursday 25 September.

The Throwdown is the hottest basketball ticket in town, where United and Phoenix reignite their crosstown rivalry and battle for bragging rights as the city’s top team. Held multiple times each season, this long-weekend edition – on the eve of the AFL Grand Final public holiday – has become a staple of the Australian sporting calendar.

Beyond the domestic season, basketball fans are in for a treat when Panathinaikos BC AKTOR and KK Partizan arrive in Melbourne on Thursday 18 September for an unmissable showdown. The European powerhouses will compete in the annual Pavlos Giannakipoulos Tournament, which honours the late Panathinaikos president, a legendary figure in European basketball.

Over the road at AAMI Park, with a top-four finish on the horizon, Melbourne Storm will be hosting at least one home final in September. Keep an eye out on the AAMI Park website for the full finals schedule following the conclusion of the NRL home and away season.
